Prevention focuses on reducing pressure, protecting the skin and acting early.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical prevention steps<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inspect your feet daily, including soles and toe spaces.<\/li><li>Wear shoes that fit without rubbing and check inside before use.<\/li><li>Never walk barefoot.<\/li><li>Wash, dry and moisturise safely.<\/li><li>Manage blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol with your clinical team.<\/li><li>Avoid smoking.<\/li><li>Attend regular foot screening for sensation, circulation and deformity.<\/li><li>Ask about therapeutic footwear or inserts if you have neuropathy, deformity or a previous ulcer.<\/li><\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act before a sore becomes an ulcer<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do not treat corns, calluses, blisters or ingrown nails with blades or chemicals. A clinician can relieve pressure and treat the cause safely.
